1. What is a sunroom?
    It is simply an addition to the home that utilizes about 70% of the wall addition area for windows. These windows take advantage of the natural light, yet keep out the bugs and other natural elements. A sunroom is a room with a view. A big plus is that a sunroom adds a whole new dimension to the house at the fraction of the cost of a conventional room addition or solarium

    Relaxing in a hot tub; extra family room space; entertaining holiday guests; extending the dining area; adding a fireplace room; library; den; music room or just plain sitting back, loosening up and enjoying the evening breeze. Each room is uniquely, custom developed for you.

    Your room addition is custom built for you and can be any size that you choose.

  5. What kind of maintenance is required?
    Our rooms are durable, and virtually maintenance free, plus they are backed by a 10 year warranty.

  6. How do I attach my room to my house?
    The rooms can be built with two, three or more walls and are attached under the eaves, to the eaves, over the eaves. These rooms can be built as free standing (detached) rooms for year around use; examples are: pool rooms, shops etc.

  7. What type of roof do the rooms have?
    The rooms can be built under an existing porch, or the rooms can have shed type, or gable type roof systems. Roofs can be custom built. These rooms can have aluminum roof, or composition shingle or other products to match your existing roof.

  8. Are the roofs insulated?
    Our aluminum Panel-Lock Roof System is a maintenance free, aluminum clad, roof available up to R-25 for year around comfort. This same roof system can be optioned to accommodate composition shingle or other roofing systems.

  9. Are sky lights available?
    Yes, in most applications, sky lights can be added.

  10. What type of siding can be used?
    Aluminum; vinyl; wood; brick; etc. Many times we can match the existing or new home siding or there are many other custom styles and colors that blend in with your homes siding.

  11. What type of windows can be used?
  12. What about sunroom floors?
    Therma-Deck insulated floor panels provide a unique and effective insulating system that prevents dampness and drafts. These systems offer up to R-25 floor factor for that warm foot feeling. You can use these over existing patios or decks or in your new construction.

  13. What if I have an existing deck or patio?
    Sunrooms can be built over most existing patios or decks. The floor covering will vary depending upon your use.

  14. What type of floor covering can I use in my new sunroom?
    The floor covering will depend upon the sub floor and owner and the use of the room. The floor can be engineered wood; 3/4 inch wood plank; sheet vinyl; vinyl floor tile; Indoor/outdoor carpeting or other types of carpeting. Ceramic or slate tiles are not recommended over Therma-Deck.

  15. What type of doors are available?
    You may choose from a variety of walk out doors insulated or non, also available in custom sizes. Also available are French or sliding glass patio doors which are also available in custom sizes.

  16. How can I finish the interior?
    The interior of your new sunroom can be finished with textured aluminum, fiberglass, fiberboard, or OSB board. When using OSB on the interior, and additional layer of gypsum board can be given a smooth or textured finish. OSB can also be covered with a tongue & groove wood or paneling. Gypsum board, over the OSB can also be wallpapered to your taste.

  17. How can I have my sunroom constructed?
    We have equipped and trained crews for the installation of your custom sunroom and can take your project from start to finish for you.

  18. What do I do about electricity and phones in my sunroom?
    Electric wiring can be added by placing fan beams within the roof panels for overhead lighting. The interior can be wired through the Therma-Deck to floor outlets or surface mounted horizontally along the walls. Electric exterior outlet receptacles can be placed through the wall.

  19. Why should I build a sunroom instead of a regular room addition?
    The beauty of a sunroom is not just in the ability to capture natural light and is not limited to the aesthetics and a year round view second to none. It is a rare commodity that is engineered to your specific room climate specifications. Studies show that homeowners of sun rooms are able to recoup most of their investment, if not all of the investment when they sell their homes. Your sunroom is maintenance free, panelized construction that takes far less time to build than a conventional room and has a factory and dealer warranty for 10 years.

  20. Where can I see a sunroom?
    Our display sunroom is located at 1501 East Washington Street (Highway 34 East across from Hy-Vee), Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

  21. What can I expect to see in your display sunroom?
    Our sunroom features an R-25 Thermo-Deck, gable roof, with conventional shingles; The gable end has trapezoid windows. The interior of the cathedral ceiling has a stucco (white) aluminum finish. The sunroom has tinted, Low-E windows throughout. The heating is provided by a catalytic non-vent classic cast iron fire stove on a marble base. Cooling is achieved through ductless split system air conditioning and ceiling fan; There is a Thermo-Deck floor system covered with a 3/4" tongue & groove (ash) hardwood floor. The existing building side is finished with tongue & groove pine, stained to match the hardwood floor. The overhead exposed beam is wired and finished with tongue & groove pine.
